About the Animation

The artwork on this site was prepared by Lisa Sardegna of the Berkeley Multimedia Research Center. The animation on the launch page roughly models the way DataSplash transforms database tables into visualizations.

The animation begins with a simple database table. DataSplash splashes paint onto each row in the table, creating a polygon for each row. These polygons slide to locations based on values in the table. Finally, text from each row slides into position next to the polygons.
